About PSSC

The Philippine Social Science Council (PSSC) is a private, non-stock, not-for-profit umbrella organization of professional social science societies and social science research and training institutions in the Philippines.

Established in 1968, its mission is to advance the Philippine social sciences and, at the same time, serve as a platform for interdisciplinary dialogues and activities. PSSC continues to be of service to the social sciences community by giving financial support to its member-organizations in holding their national conferences; provides supplementary funds for the conduct of research and conference presentation abroad; organizes training workshops on timely and relevant topics; and recently, established the Social Science Ethics Review Board (SSERB) that promotes ethical standards and practices in social science research. It also generates new knowledge through the conduct of research and publication of books.

The Communication and Media Officer has the following responsibilities:

  1. Draft and execute comprehensive communication strategies to spotlight PSSC’s programs, projects and activities
  2. Develop and manage content on PSSC’s website, Facebook, and other online platforms, ensuring accuracy and relevance
  3. Lead the development of Social Science Information
  4. Lead the design and execution of digital advocacy campaigns to advance PSSC’s mission and objectives
  5. Create visually appealing flyers, brochures, and informative collateral that spotlight PSSC’s regular programs, projects, activities, and services
  6. Prepare and present reports on website and social media performance and analytics
  7. Enhance our social media presence to foster meaningful digital engagement
  8. Collaborate with media organizations when necessary to effectively disseminate and promote PSSC activities
  9. Write press releases that convey PSSC’s accomplishments and activities, distributed via appropriate platforms
  10. Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and training sessions to enhance personal and professional knowledge
  11. Provide secretarial support to PSSC meetings, trainings, lectures, and conferences, including documentation of proceedings as needed, and
  12. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Head of PDMS or the Executive Director.

Qualifications

  1. Knowledge, skills and abilities
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skill
    • Experience in graphic design and multimedia production using creative softwares and applications (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite and Canva)
    • Knowledge in social media analytics
    • Knowledge of GSuite programs, MS Office programs
    • Familiarity with PSSC and its member-associations
    • Able to work well in a multi-task environment, independently and with a team
    • Able to prioritize assignments to meet deadlines
  1. Other personal qualities
    • Honest
    • Hardworking 
    • Meticulous/detail-oriented 
    • Resourceful
    • Diligent
  1. Training and experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in any social science discipline
    • At least one-year work experience in a social science profession
